Mablethorpe Running Club’s Malcolm Brine and Janine Stones travelled to West Yorkshire on Sunday for the 20th annual Wakefield Hospice 10K.

The 10K is a popular straight out and back road route. Starting in Thornes Park and finishing in neighbouring Clarence Park.

Although a wild and windy day and a hilly course, this did not deter a record 1,706 runners from taking part.

Malcolm was 111th in 41m 04s. Janine was not far behind her coach, finishing 117th in 41m 19s (8th lady overall and 1st in her own age category, V45.

Last weekend Archie Rainbow (U15 boys) was at Quibell Park, Scunthorpe to take part to take part in a track and field event.

Also known as the Winter Warm Up, it was hosted by Scunthorpe & District AC and held on their newly re-laid track. Across almost 40 track & field events there were over 200 competitors.

For Archie, this was only his second time on the track, but he was undeterred and came a respectable second in all three of the events he was in: 80m in 11.1s, 300m in 44.8s, Long Jump 3.74m.

The club meets at Mablethorpe Athletics Club on Sherwood Fields in Mablethorpe at 6.30pm every Monday and Thursday. Anyone with the slightest interest in running, no matter what your age or ability are welcome to come along and run.
