A team of 13 athletes from Louth AC joined more than 4,260 athletes for the 19th running of the Asda Foundation Lincoln 10k on Sunday.
Conditions were perfect for racing and the atmosphere around much of the course was phenomenal with thousands of spectators turning out to cheer on the runners and wheelchair racers.
There were terrific performances from some of Louth AC’s more recent recruits, including Lynda Dalton, Lauren Cowling, Jenny Dilks and Shirley Willett.
They’ve been training with the club’s Couch-2-10k group and coach Denzil Phillips was in the crowd supporting them on their way.
Louth AC had three runners in the top 30 finishers with Adam Dalton finishing in 22nd place overall in a very quick 34.03.
He was closely followed by Mark Atkinson who finished 29th in 34.54 and Nick Marsh who was 30th in 35.06.
Nick was second in his category and Debbie Simpson, Louth’s first woman to cross the line, was fifth in her category and 648 overall in 46.55.
Ken Jackson ran well to take fifth place in the over 70s age group - proving age is no barrier when it comes to running.
It’s been a busy couple of weeks for the club with runners competing in the Gainsborough 10k and Newton’s Fraction Half Marathon at Grantham last weekend and a track and field event at Scunthorpe on Sunday.
And club youngsters Jevon and Lucas George-Jones, Kieron Byrne and James Larder represented Lincolnshire at Inter-Counties Championships in Birmingham.
