Having won Hull Park Run recently, Mablethorpe’s Rob Hawse looked to replicate the result at Keswick while on holiday in Cumbria.

One this occasion he came second to a regular local runner in 18m 08s, a mere five seconds behind the winner, Sam Stead of Keswick AC.

On Sunday Tammy Rainbow was the only Mablethorpe runner to take part in the extremely popular North Lincolnshire Half Marathon.

The race starts close to and finishes with a glory lap of Scunthorpe United FC’s stadium at Glanford Park.

The weather was horrendous with runners battling wicked wind and relentless rain. It was wet and cold but Race Director Nicola Clifford said the weather did nothing to dampen spirits.

Tammy fought the heavy rain and felt cold all the way round. Despite also having to run into headwind, Tammy finished 272nd in 1h 37m 40s. This meant that she was the 21st lady and the fourth female Vet 40 category.

The club meets at Mablethorpe Athletics Club on Sherwood Fields in Mablethorpe at 6.30pm every Monday and Thursday. Everyone, no matter what your age or ability, are welcome to run.
