With Highgate Wanderers suffering a rare defeat and rivals Oaks winning both their games, the chase for the Louth Bowls Club Summer Triples title is heating up.

Wanderers had just got their noses in front against The Jays to lead 9-7, but lost their way and Jays’ trio of Jim and Joan Foster with John Williams triumphed 15-9.

Wanderers were back in cruise control for their next game beating Dreamers 29-6. But Oaks reduced the points gap to two points with victories over Mudlarks (15-9) and The Jays (20-10).

Mudlarks and The Jays have their own little scrap for third place but Mudlarks’ 21-6 win over Two Plus One keeps them two points clear.

In the game between the bottom two, Seagulls came good over the final three ends to beat In A Minute 12-11 to leave the vanquished team five points adrift. Seagulls had earlier lost 18-11 to Dreamers whilst IAM suffered a 15-11 defeat against Two Plus One who scored 4 shots on the final end.

The club’s annual open day is on Sunday September 7 when anyone can go along and see what the game is all about. Drinks and snacks will be available.
