A popular county motorsport stalwart is to be remembered with a special commemorative event at Cadwell Park next month.

Border Motor Club (Lincs) who hold their meetings in Brigg, confirmed the Alan Healy Memorial Rally, sponsored by TJS Self Drive, will run on Sunday April 10.

Alan was a long-standing founder member of the motor club and its president for many years. He was active in organising and assisting at events, including the RAC Rally for many years, and also competed on stage rallies in various cars over the years.

The memorial event will form a round of the popular MSN Circuit Rally Championship and also part of the ANCC rally championship.

As part of the championship, two rounds are staged at Cadwell Park, with the first being held back in November which proved extremely competitive with some very close times recorded.

The Rally will use the race circuit as well as some of the roads surrounding the track including parts of the paddock area.

Cars likely to be competing include Subaru WRC, Ford Focus WRC and also the very quick MK2 Escorts that have been a favourite weapon with rally drivers around the world for many years.

Previous winners of this event include Roger Duckworth, David Turnbull, John Stone, and last year’s winner David Tinn who drove a very quick Proton Satria which, unlike the normal road car version, boasted a 2,500cc engine with four-wheel drive and the usual ingredients found on a world rally car.

Building on the success of previous Border Motor Clubs events held at Cadwell, and the popularity of the MSN Rally Championship, the entry list is expected to fill quickly with a maximum of 100 places available.

The club is looking to run eight stages for a total of about 45 miles.

Spectators are welcome and further details can be found at www.bordermotorclub.co.uk at www.cadwellpark.co.uk or www.msnrallychamp.co.uk

Border Motor Club are also inviting any marshals interested in helping out at the event to contact them as soon as possible.

The entry list of drivers and cars will be available on the club website when available.
