Coy Shield winners at Sandilands Golf Club

ON Sunday March 25 at Sandilands Golf Club 24 members played in the Coy Shield a fourball better ball competition.

Winners with 42pts were Anthony Brass and Paul Weston. Tony Attwood and Charlie Kemp came second also carding 42pts but beaten on back nine countback.

Craig Chilton and Melvyn Brown came third with 40pts.

Mick Neal and Colin Slater who were partners in the competition both got 2’s on the 17th hole and Craig Chilton and Tony Attwood both got 2’s on the 10th hole.

On Monday March 26 22 seniors played in a stableford competition. Division A was won by Joe Sansom with 35pts. Mike Reynolds came second with 34pts.

Don Hodder came first in Division B with the best score of the day 38pts. John Conyers came second with 34pts.

On Wednesday March 28 35 senior members played in a Bogie Competition kindly sponsored by Lewis Walker and Mike Bothamley.

This was a special day for Lewis as after much consideration had decided to retire from golf. Lewis and Mike have been regular sponsors of this event for the seniors and Lewis’s presence at the club will be missed.

Their respective wives, Betty and Jan served refreshments in the ‘halfway house’.

Winner of Division A was Richard Parker with +4 Frank Evans came second with +3 and Bill Webb third with +2. Division B was won by Phil Wilde with +5. Bob Johnson came second with +1 and Jack Taylor came in with level par.
