SAMSUNG Honda’s Michael Laverty rode his way to a double podium finish at the team’s home British Superbike race at Cadwell Park on Bank Holiday Monday.
The 31-year-old Northern Irishman was on top form through the weekend, pushing his title rivals Tommy Hill and Josh Brookes until the end.
Laverty finished third in both races, two places above team mate Jon Kirkham in race one and nine places above the 27-year-old in the second, leaving him fourth in the overall BSB standings.
It topped off a fantastic weekend of racing at the Cadwell Park circuit, with thousands of fans both local and from afar descended to the area to watch their heroes.
Laverty said: “I was a lot happier with race two even though it was the same result. Two third places is another two credits for the showdown and it was good to be on the podium twice at the Samsung Honda team’s home round.
“I was settled into the race until Josh came by me and that ruined my rhythm so the end of the race wasn’t as good as the beginning, but I can’t complain as we are in the showdown and ready to try and get more credits at Donington Park.”
