The winning England team.
The winning England team.

A STAGGERING 40 local golfers did battle at Crook Hill Doncaster for the Wallace v Edward Trophy, with England thrasing old enemy Scotland.

The Scots were led to the 1st tee by their own piper much to the surprise and amusement of the English, which has to be said was the best Scottish performance of the day.

It was a great victory for Captain Corbs and his men who won by 110 points to 80 with a point per hole and one extra for each match won.

In all the English won seven out of the 10 matches.

After the game the trophy was presented by the losing captain Graham Law. Both teams then went on to enjoy a superb lager reception with fine cuisine (pie, chips and mushy peas) then back to Louth for celebrations.

Thanks went to Graham for choosing such a great location and all his hard work and to Carl and Paul at Lincs Print for the great job on the shirts.
