Despite the wet weather, 100 Kenwick Park members turned up to watch their new Men’s Captain Steve Blackburn and Lady Captain Pam Westthorp drive in.

Following their fantastic drives totalling 411 yards, 18 teams of four played a nine hole mixed texas scramble.

The team of John King, Steve Ashby, Robert Mowbray and Lynda Cahalin won the front nine competition with 38 points on a countback from Graham Ward, Roger Goldsmith, John Ashton and Helen Sherratt. Mick Slowey, David Hallifax, Philip and Ranka Cartledge came third with 36. Colin and Sue Burkitt playing with Brian and Patsy Clark won the back nine with 40 points. Jim Cane, Rob Oliver, Alan and Andrea Smaggasgale came second with 39. Ron Irwin, Val Pattinson, Nathan Price and Delia Techman were third with 36.

Considering the time of year, the November medal produced some sublime golf. Peter Grantham (12) was third with a net 68 ahead of Mark Asher (12) with 71.

Steve Clarke won division two with a good score of 87-19=68; Dave Mulholland (14) took the runners-up spot with 69 on a countback from Chris Hunt (17). Jim Dinsdale (15) was fourth with 70.
