Seniors’ Captain Lee Fisher led his team from Kenwick Park Golf Club to a heroic victory against the B team to claim the Brooks Trophy for only the third time in the history of the competition.
The winning margin was 3½ to 2½.
84 men and 11 ladies supported the Environmental Committee by playing in the Fur and Feather individual stableford competition.
The course played long due the recent rain but the weather stayed fine and competitors were sustained by hot mulled wine and food at the halfway house.
Sam Atkin (18) won the men’s competition with 39 points. A countback then separated the next four players with Steve Ashby (8) taking second place ahead of Mick Horner (6), Andy Oliver (17) and Les Bullen (28).
Sue Sykes (11) scored 29 points to win the ladies event. Ladies Vice Captain Pam Westthorp (19) took second place with 28 on a countback from Mabel Blackburn (22).
This competition raised £500 which will be used to enhance the area around the putting green and pro-shop leading down to the first tee in addition to planting trees on the course.
