After the snow and ice postponed last week’s fixture Louth Hockey Club were raring to go at home against Bourne Deeping 2nds.

Three minutes in and Louth’s Matt Hulme took full advantage of a Bourne defence backing away inviting him to shoot. His crisp shot flew past the static ‘keeper into the far corner.

Two minutes later Rob Chamberlin’s cross found Robert Johnstone at the back post and despite diving efforts from ‘keeper and defender he kept his cool and lifted it into the goal.

The game became a bit of a stalemate with the defences cancelling out any attacking moves. Richard Hill in the Louth goal hardly had a save to make as Martin Chamberlin Roe, Stuee Trotter, Seb Darke and Hayden Arrowsmith dealt comfortably with the Bourne attack.

The second half started much like the first, Louth pushed forward and five minutes in a neat one two on the edge of the D between Robert Johnstone and Rob Chamberlin saw Robert Johnstone score with a scuffed shot that went through the Bourne ‘keeper’s legs.

More pressure from Louth followed and this time Rob Chamberlin was on the end of a cross which he eventually managed to force in while diving at full stretch.

The Louth midfield of Titch, George Johnstone, Robert and Matt were controlling the play setting up attacks for strikers Jonny Dyas, Rob and Webbo.

The final goal of the game came when Matt once again picked up the ball ran into the D and shot without being troubled by the Bourne defenders. Final score 5-0.

Louth Men 2nds travelled to Leadenham and were unlucky to be on the wrong end of a 2-1 defeat. Louth Ladies 1st team met Tadcaster 2nds at London Road and managed a comfortable 7-0 win.
