A good turnout of 47 Kenwick Park seniors vied for 16 qualifying spots for the knockout stages of the Ced Blackbourne Trophy.
Bernard Stafford played well to win the stableford competition with 36 points and reduce his handicap to 20.
A countback on 34 points separated the next three players, with Malcolm Bood (18) taking the runners-up spot from Neil Calvert (13) and Alan Smaggasgale (14). Paddy Shillington (8) was fifth with 33.
* With the course playing long and tough following rain, the Kenwick ladies played a medal round, with the top 16 going through to the knockout rounds of the Pauline Jackson Rosebowl.
Freda Cooper won the silver division, shooting 94-19=75, while Jane Briggs (99-22=77) topped the silver, and Wendy Beaumont the bronze with 120-35=85.
Jill Smith was second overall with 96-20=76. Freda and Jill were delighted to reduce their handicaps by a shot.
