MEMBERS of Louth Fencing Club did the town proud during the successful foray to Sheffield for the first leg of the Yorkshire and Humberside Youth League.

With an excellent attendance of 12 juniors, five of which in their first outing, the club won four golds out of the seven at stake for foil.

Winners were Robert Kemp (U10 mixed), Morgan Webster (U12 boys), Conner Webster (U14 boys) and Emily Goolden (U14 girls), while Oliver Goolden and Lottie Fry fenced excellently for bronze.

Coach Kate Harris also showed good form winning silver and best veteran in the Cumberland open.

Meanwhile Sam Brougham fenced for England in the Universities Five Nations winning team gold.

Senior Coach Jim Harris said: “We lose fencers who get older and move on, but we are continuing with our success at junior level.”
