Louth Golf Club professional wins national award

Louth Golf Club enjoyed the red carpet feeling when they were shortlisted for two awards at the '˜Oscars of the golf industry'.

Club professional Nick Taylor attended the seventh annual 59club Service Excellence Awards Ceremony at The Belfry where he was named the Golf Retail Manager of the Year (under £75 green fee).

Nick saw off fellow finalists Joe Smith (Hollins Hall), Lauren Dickenson (Breadsall Priory), Mike Platt (Carden Park), Paul Heaton (Herons Reach) and Steve Hindle (Worsley Park).

Louth GC were also in the running for Golf Operation Team of the Year (under £75 green fee) alongside Breadsall Priory, Kingswood, The Mere, Tudor Park and Worsley Park who picked up the award.

Director of Golf Nikki Chantry said: “Among all of the larger clubs that are mentioned, to win the award is an amazing accolade for the golf club and for Nick himself.”

The club have also announced the arrival of Lewis Hackett as their new assistant golf professional.

Nikki added: “Lewis joins the team going into a very exciting year for the club with many positive changes happening.”

* A good turnout of 19 ladies enjoyed a pre-season betterball in beautiful sunshine, including new members Val and Alice.

The competition was very fierce with third place decided on a back three countback.

Sandra Daniels and Joyce won with 37 points, one ahead of runners-up Annette and Julie. Third place went to Alice and Sandra Conway (35pts).
