Louth Golf Club members Colin Trestail and Duncan MacDonald have made it through to the national grand final of the American Golf Nine-Hole Championship.

They made it through after a closely-fought qualifying competition at Woodhall Spa Golf Club.

Colin and Duncan pair will now take their places at Ryder Cup venue The Belfry on Friday and Saturday, September 9 and 10 to battle it out over the Brabazon course for the title of the UK’s best nine-hole golfers.

Woodhall Spa is the home of the England Golf Union, and the golf on display lived up to the setting.

Trestail and MacDonald played some incredible golf to record an impressive nine-hole score of 25 points.

The pair will now go forward to the final at the iconic Midland venue alongside the winners of 19 other qualifying competitions across the UK and Ireland.

Entry to all of the American Golf Championships, including the American Golf Nine-Hole, Junior, Ladies and Senior Championships, is free and part of the nationwide retailer’s drive to promote golf and attract more players.
