Louth Indoor Bowls Club take on Sleaford

THE LOUTH Indoor Bowls Club Men’s ‘A’ team produced its best result of the winter season when when winning all five rinks of their away match against Sleaford ‘B’ to enjoy a 127-67 aggregate victory.

Harry Putland’s rink of Russ Dent, Richard Armitage and Barry Mountain had the biggest margin with a 31-8 win.

The Mixed ‘B’ team had a very good chance of taking maximum points in their match at Scunthorpe but a late fightback on four rinks by the opposition restricted Louth to just one rink win as the home club won 106-87.

The visitors’ lone success was the four of Barry and Irene Fox, John Wrisdale and Maureen Southgate.

Excellent wins on two rinks by the Ladies team in the match at Horncastle saw them edge the aggregate by 112 sots to 108.

A third rink win was in the offing until the home four grabbed a ‘5’ and a ‘3’ in successive ends. Louth’s winning skips were Jean Holdsworth (29-15) and Mary Rock (27-17).

By contrast the Men’s Over 60s managed only one rink win in their home match against Boston and were defeated 119-86.

Louth could have gained more points but two rinks dropped vital shots in the closng stages, each eventually losing by six shots.

Best for Louth was the rink of A Watson, H Hurst, J Brown and D Burgess which won 22-18.
