Louth martial artist passes black belt test

Martial arts exponent Melissa Ball made the grade earlier this month when she passed her third Dan Black Belt promotion exam.

She had to use all of her skills in patterns, full-contact sparring, self-defence, knife defence and destruction in the tae kwon-do test at Mansfield.

Melissa trains at Yom Chi Taekwondo which has clubs in Louth and Brookenby.

The club trains at Cordeaux school, in Louth, on Wednesdays from 7pm to 8.30pm, at Ayscough Hall. off Lee street, on Sundays from 10.30am to 11.30am, and Brookenby Community Centre on Wednesdays from 6pm to 7.30pm.

Ages start from six years upwards, and the first lesson is free.
