Friendly sibling rivalry saw Louth sisters Esmee and Eliza Alex both crowned champions at the UK Riders Challenge National Final.

They had to come through local qualifiers, held at centres around the country from September to May, and then regional Finals, in June to July, to reach the national finals at Arena UK, near Grantham.

King Edward VI Grammar School pupil Esmée was champion in both the novice and preliminary unaffiliated dressage classes with 70 per cent and 71 per cent respectively.

Not to be outdone, younger sister Eliza, who attends St James School, took reserve champion in the same classes.

Their recent successes have earned them sponsorship from local businessman Paul Clark, of PCR Commercial Bodyworks at Horncastle, to help them achieve their aspirations.
