Just a fortnight after completing the Greater Manchester Marathon, Sharon Wheatley Margarson and Elaine Wilson joined 40,000 athletes for the 36th London Marathon.

They ran both the events for Breast Cancer Now, a cause very close to their hearts since a friend was diagnosed with the disease. Further contributions can be made via Mablethorpe Running Club.

Both improved on last year’s time in the capital, Sharon clocking 4hr 36min 50secs and Elaine finishing at 4.43.25.

* Father and daughter Rob and Ella Hawse joined clubmates brother and sister Archie and Ellie Rainbow at round one of the Humberside Track and Field League.

Rob (senior men) recorded a 5000m PB and set a new club record of 16min 52.1secs, while Ella (U15 girls) also set a PB in the 3000m of 13min 31.2secs. Ella also made her debut at the long jump with a great distance of 3.46m.

Archie (U15 boys) won the 200m in an excellent PB of 25.7secs, and also won the 800m for his age group in another PB of 2min 19.2secs.

Ellie (U13 girls) ran her 200m race in a respectable 33.83secs and Ellie recorded an 800m PB of 3min 07.8secs.

Ellie also completed the quad which encompasses all the key aspects of athletics – endurance, speed, agility and strength – in which she scored 96.
