Mablethorpe Running Club stalwart Robert Hawse went to the state of the art English Institute of Sport (EIS) to take part in the 2015 Senior Indoor Championships at the weekend.

These are very tightly contested positions at regional standard and Rob was competing against the best amateur athletes.

He ran the Senior Men 3000m (3km) Final which is 15 laps of the track. Rob finished 8th of 9 in a time of 9m 49.85s. Rob’s 3km PB on the road is 9m 36s so he was pleased with the indoor performance and of the experience.

The winner was Richard Weir (Derby Athletic Club) who ran 8m 07.85s.

Anyone interested in taking up running or picking it up again can take advantage of Mablethorpe Running Club’s free trial in February.

It is a UK Athletics (UKA) affiliated club and would warmly welcome both seniors and juniors who have the slightest desire to run, no matter what your capability.

The club has UKA level 1 &/or 2 Coaches (CRB/DBS checked), who can work with you if you’d like a formulated programme or you can just go along for a casual run and make some new friends.

The club meets at Mablethorpe Athletics Club on Sherwood Fields in Mablethorpe at 6.30pm every Monday and Thursday. Mondays is for both seniors and juniors (aged 7-16 years old) and Thursdays is for seniors only. Anyone,
