Market Rasen and Louth RFC opened their Midlands One East league season with an emphatic 41-12 win over Matlock on Saturday.

Hooker Tom Alldridge put the Red and Greens ahead within four minutes with a penalty.

Tries for number eight Ben Chamberlin, winger Will Pridgeon, and fly-half Peter Everton, combined with three conversions and another penalty from Alldridge, put the hosts 27-5 up at half-time.

Two converted tries on debut from centre Rob Batterbury after the break completed an excellent opening day result.
