Market Rasen and Louth RFC had to settle for a losing bonus point as they slipped to a 14-10 defeat at Midlands One East bottom side Old Laurentians on Saturday.

Taking on opponents in improved form, the Red and Greens fells behind early on to a converted try before Tom Alldridge’s well-struck penalty narrowed the deficit to 7-3 at half-time.

Laurentians took advantage of Paul Gutteridge’s yellow card to score their second converted try.

Gutteridge’s try, converted by Alldridge, gave the visitors late hope, but the hosts came closest to scoring again in the final stages.

Defeat left the Red and Greens in 11th, four points above third-bottom Newark.
