Highgate Wanderers already look to have one hand on the Louth Indoor Bowls Club’s Morning Triples League trophy, opening up a six point-lead over rivals Yorkies by beating them 18-11.

Yorkies were also beaten 16-10 by third-placed The Jays,, who also beat Dreamers 16-8.

Highgate trailed to bottom team Seagulls before coming back to win 18-12, but Seagulls thumped Falcons 24-5.

Falcons’ were also beaten 18-4 by Magpies trio.

Mudlarks recorded two wins, beating Magpies 14-9 and In A Minute 13-11.

In A Minute also lost 14-7 against Two Plus One. In the other match, Dreamers beat Two Plus One 16-7.

Plans are under way to commemorate the club’s 25th anniversary over the weekend of September 19-20.

Included in the plans are a bowls drive on the Saturday, involving players from other clubs in the county and any Louth IBC founder members who are sill bowling will be given precedence to play for the host club.

This will be followed by a meal and a guest speaker.

Sunday morning is expected to be an open day, in order to attract new members, whilst the afternoon will feature a match between teams chosen by the respective men’s and ladies’ captains from a list of interested members.

Preparation of the winter league fixtures will begin next week and should be available by the end of July.
