Races heating up for town runners

Mablethorpe Running Club’s Elaine Wilson and Sharon Wheatley Margarson 
returned for the second Clickem Inn 5-mile road runs .

These races are held on summer evenings at Swinhope near Grimsby, and hosted by Wolds Veterans AC.

In hot and humid conditions, 130 runners took part with Sharon coming in 80th in 41m 38s and Elaine was 101st in a time of 44m 02s.

Mablethorpe members continue to participate Cleethorpes Park Runs. Last week Malcom Brine finished in an impressive eighth position of the 102 runners in a time of 19m 53s.

The 1st Lady to finish was Rachel Love of Wolds Veterans AC. She was 13th overall completing her first ever Cleethorpes park run in 20m 44s.

The winner was Christopher Wray of Cleethorpes & District AC in a time of 18m 18s.

The 1st lady was Lisa Foster also of Cleethorpes & District AC in just 21m 44s.

Last weekend Paul Stupple was the only Mablethorpe RC runner of the 92 entrants, but he did himself and the club proud, setting a new park run PB finishing 22nd in 23m 09s.

Heckington Show 10-mile road race attracted 146 entrants, all of which completed the course despite the temperature being rather uncomfortably hot at around 25 degrees.

From Mablethorpe RC, Tammy Rainbow and Roger Blake competed, Tammy finished 44th in 1h 14m 35s (5th lady), Roger not so far behind, 48th in 1h 17m 06s.

As last year, the race was once again won by Aaron Scott (Notts AC) in a staggering time of 52m 56s.

The 1st female was Nicky Jefferson (Army Athletics) in just 1h 07m 49s.

The club meets at Mablethorpe Athletics Club on Sherwood Fields in Mablethorpe at 6.30pm every Monday and Thursday. Anyone, whatever your age or ability, are most welcome to come and run. Visit www.mablethorperunningclub.org.uk
