Cadwell Park motor racing circuit near Louth will celebrate all things vintage on Saturday June 8 with its annual Vintage Festival.
Since 1934 the organising Vintage Sports-Car Club has provided the chance for incredible machinery from the early days of motorsport to be raced competitively.
The Cadwell Park event has long been established as one of the most respected on their calendar.
A wide range of vintage machinery will take to the track this June, including racing and sports cars.
Over 250 entries have been received for the packed schedule of 11 races on the day.
Amongst the fascinating machinery on display, the ever popular Morgan three wheelers will be back, whilst the Bugatti Owners’ Club will be holding their prestigious Williams Trophy Race featuring some very rare cars.
There will also be relatively newer machinery on track too. The traditional Shuttleworth, Nuffield and Len Thompson Memorial Trophies Race for pre-1961 front-engined racers is one of the highlights of the event, with 20 cars entered.
Cadwell Park’s roots are also recalled with a similar number in the Formula 3 race for 500cc cars that took part in early meetings at the venue.
Races run to both scratch and handicap formats, the latter once being a popular method used to score cars according to their power.
It adds to a period feel that includes a car park full of vintage vehicles from a pioneering age of motoring.
One of the country’s most picturesque circuits, Cadwell Park, just five miles from Louth, also provides a unique challenge to the cars and drivers with a mixture of tight corners and undulations.
It’s also the perfect venue to sit on the bank and enjoy a picnic as the cars provide plenty of entertainment and recall a bygone age.
The intimate atmosphere at Cadwell Park also offers the opportunity to see these magnificent vehicles up close in the paddock, and even speak to the drivers between the races.
Tickets for the Vintage Festival at Cadwell Park are available for £14, with free entry for children aged 12 and under.
