Resort runners head to city for 5km Park Run challenge

Janine Stones, Malcolm Brine and Sheryl Hawse of Mablethorpe Running Club were among the 298 that ran the Lincoln 5km Park Run on Saturday.

Janine again improved her personal best finishing 25th in 19m 55s

Malcolm was hot on her heels with his debut Park Run finishing 26th in 19m 59s

Sheryl also got another personal best finishing 43rd in 20m 46s

On Sunday, eight Mablethorpe runners were among the 140 entrants in the 16th Friskney Half Marathon.

Hosted by Boston and District AC this race is just two weeks before the London Marathon, an ideal warm-up.

Wayne Kew, in his first half marathon in 18 months since he underwent knee surgery, came in a hugely respectable 30th in 1h 32m 42s

Tammy Rainbow pulled-off a personal best finishing 39th in 1h 36m 34s. This also netted her third overall lady and a trophy for being the second Female Vet 40.

Roger Blake got a course best finishing 47th in 1h 39m 22s. Debbie Kew finished 78th in 1h 51m 47s. Andrew Elson followed finishing 84th in 1h 53m 21s.

Debbie Jinks made her debut to half marathon running and finished 100th in a time of 2h 01m 58s. Selina Elson came in 127th in 2h 16m 59s. Jane Lammiman achieved a course best finishing 137th in 2h 37m 12s

The race was won by Matt Pyatt (Huntindonshire AC) in 1h 14m 17s

Peter Downing was the only wheelchair athlete this year and he made it around the course in a very respectable 1h 39m 02s (44th position).

The club meets at Mablethorpe Athletics Club on Sherwood Fields at 6.30pm every Monday and Thursday. Anyone, whatever your age or ability, are welcome to come and run.
