Mablethorpe Running Club’s Janine Stones and Nigel Booth were among 80 runners in the annual Belchford Three Churches 10k.
This undulating course in the beautiful Lincolnshire Wolds scenery between Louth and Horncastle proved no problem for Nigel or Janine. Crossing the finish line in exactly 44 minutes Janine (LV35) was the 1st Lady and the 1st O/35, 18th position overall. Hot on her heels, Nigel (MV50) finished in 21st position with a time of 44m 27s.
Paul ‘Maz’ Marriott travelled down to Milton Keynes to take part in the MK marathon. It was a nice circular flat course through the parks, lakes and suburbs and also around the town. The finish line was in the MK Dons stadium. Despite being scorching hot (up to 20 degrees in places) and quite tough at times, Maz finished in 4h 24m 03s.
Guy Willey (plus some team mates from work) took part in the London North endurance event Tough Mudder. Designed by British Special Forces to test mental and physical strength in unison, obstacles often play against human fears such as fire, water and heights. Participants attempt the 10–12 mile long military-style course with approximately 20 obstacles. The events are untimed but on average only 78 per cent of entrants successfully complete it, of which Guy and his team were finishers.
The club meets at Mablethorpe AC on Sherwood Fields at 6.30pm every Monday. Everyone welcome, whatever their age or ability.
