Six runners from Mablethorpe Running Club braved a flat course at the Cleethorpes New Year’s Day 10K .
The race attracted a good entry despite many competitors wishing they hadn’t celebrated so well the night before.
Kevin Harrison (vet 55) was first home in 83rd place in a time of 41 minutes and 49 seconds. Next back was Guy Willey (vet 40) who achieved a new personal best time of 47.25 in 17th position. Next home was Andy Elson (vet 50) in 230th position in 50.30.
The next three ladies back all ran well to set new personal bests and in 244th place was Sharon Margarson (vet 40) in 50.30, Elaine Wilson (vet 40) was 323rd in 56.09 and Selina Elson came 352nd in 58.45
Mablethorpe Running Club was well also represented at the Lincolnshire County Cross Country Championships on a very hilly and muddy course at Louth.
The under 11 girls event saw a good run from Ella Hawse in 7th place.
Archie Rainbow moved up to the under 13 boys category and had a good run to complete the course in 19th position.
Sheryl Hawse ran well to finish in 10th place in the senior women’s race and a strong run from Tammy Rainbow saw her secure third place in the veteran women’s event.
The veteran men’s race produced good runs from Chris Rainbow in 4th place. Nigel Booth in 14th position, Mick Casey in 16th place and Guy Willey 35th.
The trio of Rainbow, Booth and Casey won the third team prize in their event.
The club meets at the Athletic club on Sherwood Fields in Mablethorpe at 6.30 pm every Monday and Thursday and all runners, whatever their ability and including new starters are welcome to come and run with the club members.
