Christmas arrived early for the Lindum Bujutsu Martial Arts Academy as they swept to victory at the Sports Chanbara UK Open Championship.

The team walked away with no less than 12 UK titles as well as the UK Grand Champion.

Sports Chanbara is a full-contact weapon-based sport based on Japanese swordmanship and developed by the renowned Japanese sword master Tetsundo Tanabe in the 1970s.

Initially learning the Kodachi (short sword), players can move on to learn the Choken (long sword), Nito (short and long sword), Bo (six-foot staff), Naginata and Yari (spears) as well as many other traditional weapons.

With its recent success, the club is now turning its attention to the European Championships which are to be held in Paris next year.

Lindum Bujutsu Martial Arts Academy is based in North Cotes and also teaches Karate, Kobudo and Iaido.
