THE Kenwick Park Golf Club ladies played a betterball competition for the Brenda Blundell trophies on the hottest day of the year so far and the scores matched the weather.
Jean Sizer and Cheryl Gilliatt scored a sizzling 43 points to win.
A countback on 42 points declared sisters Andrea Smaggasgale and Julia Labbett the runners up from third placed Elaine Houlton and Birdie Dawson. All the competitors thanked Brenda for providing the prizes and a delicious afternoon tea for them all.
The ladies had played a medal the previous week and Sandra Crow (11) won the silver division with a net 77 and Penny Buckley (24) won the bronze with a 78.
Suzanne Guiliatt ( 17) was third overall with 78 on a countback from Jo Cudmore (26). Val Pattinson (16) took fifth prize with 80.
The men played the July medal from the white tees and Tony Lascelles won with a fine score of 77-8=69.
Chris Winney won the best gross and came second in the net with 75-5=70.
Sean Howson (10) claimed the third prize with a net 73 on a countback from John Payne (8) and Sam Done (5).
A separate medal competition for the men from the yellow tees gave Carl Toon victory with 85-14=71 on a countback from Chris Hunt (19). John Ashton (13) was third with 72.
