Kenwick Park: Louth GC team top record field

Despite a wet start to the day, the scoring was excellent with the Lough Golf Club team of Lee Mamwell, Guy Shufflebotham, Graham Evison and Lee Perkins winning with a great total of 56.8.

The home team of Ali Damms, Neil Johnson, Dave Foxon and Kevin Cowdrey were runners-up with 57.3, while Jim Martin Jnr, Jim Martin Snr, Mark Elston and Mark Hotham, from Forest Pines, took third place with 57.5 ahead of Kenwick Park’s Nigel Towse, Nick Dawson, Keiron Spencer-Chaplin and Ashton Turner (58.3).

The final fifth prize went to the home team of Ian Dickinson, Mick Horner, Tony Lascelles and Gary Spencer with 58.7.

A total of 174 golfers tried their luck at the putting competition and the only player to sink the putt was the final entrant, England international Ashton Turner who won a £50 voucher from the Professionals Shop.

The club wishes to say a huge thank-you to event organiser Ian Dickinson and everyone who helped out. The day raised a significant amount for Lincolnshire’s LIVES and Blood Bikes which are Graham Sykes’ charities of the year.

* An entry of 16 couples competed for the crystal Gardner Greensomes trophy.

It was a family victory with Val Pattinson and her grandson Nathan Price scoring 34 points to win on countback from Grahame Ward and Mabel Blackburn.

Men’s captain Graham Sykes and Bridget Hardaway claimed the third prize with 32, and Nick and Jo Cudmore finished fourth with 31 on a countback from Rob Oliver and Julie Harvey.

Rob Oliver scored the only two of the day to earn a box of golf balls.

* Fog and heavy rain deterred some of the ladies from playing a stableford, but nine ladies braved the elements.

Wendy Beaumont (36) played very well to score 36 points and win the bronze division, reducing her handicap to 35.

Ann Walker (12) won the silver with 29 points.
