Kenwick Park men through to last 32 of national event

The Kenwick Park Golf Club men's team is through to the last 32 of the Mail on Sunday Classic.

The side, made up of Lewis Hackett, Sam Done, Kieron Spencer-Chaplin, Mick Upton and skipper Steve Ashby, defeated Belton Park 4-1 at home in their latest tie.

Kenwick Park’s victory means they are the last surviving Lincolnshire men’s team left in the draw.

l Thirty-eight Kenwick Park seniors played for the Transatlantic Trophy, a long-running medal competition initiated by Doug Gordon, who was a real character and who died in the past year.

Karl Koslow continued his good run of form and won the competition. A count back on 73 decided the top three places with Karl scoring 80 - 7 = 73, ahead of Peter Rogers with 83 - 10 = 73 and third-placed Graham Hewstone who scored 97 - 24 = 73.

l Sam Fox (36) won a 9-hole Stableford, (36) with 17 points.
