Kieren beats large field to Kenwick Trophy

With the Kenwick Park course looking superb, but playing long after wet weather conditions, 111 men played a medal from the white tees for the Kenwick Trophy.

Kieren Spencer-Chaplin birdied the last hole to shoot a great round of 74-5=69 to secure victory and reduce his handicap to four.

Mark Ringland claimed the runners-up spot with 78-7=71, and Travis Hasketh was third with 100-28=72.

Lewis Hackett took fourth place with 75-2=73 on a countback from Tom Gladwell (78-5=73).

* A shotgun start on a lovely summer’s evening welcomed pairs to the Grouse Foursomes.

Dave Foxon (12) and Nick Dawson scored an excellent 79-12=67 to win and were rewarded with a litre bottle of whisky each from sponsors John King and Steve Ashby.

The runners-up were Simon Moody (8) and Ian Dickinson (9) with 80-9=71.

* The ladies enjoyed warm sunshine as they played a stableford for the beautiful Swan Trophy, presented by Di Everitt who kindly donated the prizes.

Wendy Beaumont (35) was thrilled to win her very first trophy with 35 points on a countback from Sandra Crow (13), while Birdie Dawson (8) came third with 34.
