THIS weekend (June 23-24) sees the welcome return of the 250cc MZs to Cadwell Park.
These little two strokes held their first race there back in 1987 so are pulling out all the stops to mark their very own Silver Jubilee.
With help from Bemsee, the race organisers, there will be a total of six 250cc MZ races to allow the British MZ Racing Club the chance to showcase its class.
The bikes seen on track have evolved considerably over the years but remain a testament to the well engineered and robustness of the basic road bike.
Friends from within the motorcycle racing community are supporting the event by contributing prizes, notably the likes of Tommy Hill, James Toseland, Steve Parrish and Jamie Whitham who also raced with Bemsee in the early days of their careers. Local firms Bridge McFarland Solicitors of Louth and FreshDrop Ltd of Boston are sponsoring the event.
The British MZ Racing Club created the 250cc MZ class in order to give riders an opportunity to race without going to great expense.
This prospect has never been so attractive and the club is going from strength to strength as racers look for new ways to compete without breaking the bank.
The club also offers would-be racers the chance to take part in a race meeting if they want to ‘try before they buy’.
There are two fully prepared race bikes which come with full paddock support and on track instruction from experienced racers. The club calls this their MZ Experience and places are booked up well in advance so anyone thinking of taking part in 2013 should contact the Club now.
For more details on the British MZ Racing Club, it’s Silver Jubilee and the MZ Experience, you can check out their website www.bmzrc.org.uk or pop along and meet them at Cadwell.
