Darts competition success for youngster Robbie
Young Maltby le Marsh darts star Robbie Hewson took the title in the U18 Youths Darts Competition in Great Yarmouth last week, picking up the £140 prize in the process.
After earlier disappointment in the overall competition, which included darts legends Cliff Lazaranco and Kieth Dellar, where Robbie was knocked out at the last 64 stage, his fortunes changed the the U18 event.
Playing consistently well through the evening Robbie found himself in the final against the much hyped 14-year-old Jordan Singh from the West Midlands.
Robbie was too clinical to let Singh have a sniff and broke him early to go 2-0 up. Singh did raise his game and scored strongly with a 180 and two 140s but Robbie took the title with a 3-1 triumph with just under a 25 single dart average.
Older brother Sam made it into the last 16 in the overall competition, and although he didn’t hit the heights of previous rounds he did pick up a £125 prize.
Sam and Robbie Hewson are grateful to their sponsors, Focus Signs of Alford, ARG Plumbing of Louth and Steve Wood Plasters of Maltby le Marsh, for their ongoing support this year.
