Louth Billiards & Snooker League
THE leaders in the Pat Scott Memorial Trophy Summer Snooker League were held to a draw and are now only five points clear, writes Jack Westerby.
Castaline are making hard work of securing their third successive title after a 4-4 draw with Jack Westerby Driving School saw their lead cut to five points from eight.
It was never going to be an easy fixture for the leaders and they quickly found that out as Craig Shaw drove the hosts in front, Sam Mountain drew his side level, but they couldn’t find a winner.
Manny Bernstein rekindled their slender title hopes with a 7-1 away win over bottom placed Faulkners Domestic Appliances, Mark Bullivant, Colin Stirton and Wes Burton all contributed, but it might be a case of the one that got away as Brian Copeland saved the hosts from a second consecutive pointless night and the visitors will need a result similar to this when they take on the leaders next.
Don Noble Bookmaker kept a tight rein on third place thanks to a hard earned 5-3 away win at MA Stephenson Autos. Andrew Fisher cut the hosts odds on a win, but they were to fall at the last hurdle as Ian Winn and John Bartup received a clear run at the winning line.
Sibjon Builders just edged out Seymour & Castle by 5-3, Pete Mountain was the match winner for the visitors. Simon Overton knocked in a decent break for the hosts, but it was to no avail as they were once again left in the dark.
n SNOOKER professional Ian McCulloch will be taking on all comers at Mablethorpe Conservative Club next Wednesday, August 15.
The former World Championship quarter-finalist will be taking on challengers on the night as well as the club’s top player Karl Krajnyk.
