Neck and neck in Don Noble Bookmaker Louth billiards league
Don Noble Bookmaker Louth Billiards & Snooker League
IT’S interesting at the top of the billiards League where with just two matches to play Jack Westerby Driving School and Naulls and Dales are level on points.
The former played hosts to M A Stephenson Autos and were beaten 2-1. They looked to be on for the first but Lee Cook put the visitors in front, Ian Cook increased their lead, but the title challengers grabbed a vital point through the reliable Bob Barnes at the end this leaving them tied with Naulls and Dales who sent ABC Riding Wear to the bottom with a 3-0 defeat.
Alf Crampin rolled in a half century to set the away side up, Jack Westerby made it 2-0 and maximum points were bagged courtesy of Mark Storey (32).
Castaline are up to third and its still mathematically possible for them to retain the title, Sam Mountain (50), Dan Blythe and Keith Sowter all won to send W A Jaines & Son home with an empty haul as the hosts need to win their last two games by 3-0 and hope the top pair lose theirs by the same scoreline.
Snooker League
The snooker league title looks safely placed on Kitchen Solutions table after they beat Louth Travel Centre 8-4 to open up a lead of nine points.
Driving into second are N T Shaw Citroen despite only drawing 6-6 with Harness & Cooper Joiners, Dave Revell`s early two frames strike appeared to have done the trick for the visitors, but they were denied victory at the last by Andy Fisher.
Don Noble Bookmaker are on the bottom and they will be hoping they don’t get tailed off after losing 8-4 to Castaline on their own course, Sam Mountain, Will Blythe and Keith Sowter all left the hosts sinking fast.
Dales Poultry & Game were held at home by Louth Building Supplies, Tony Byrne gave the visitors something to build with, but they didn’t deliver and Phil Marshall left the match a 6-6.
Martyn Taylor, Graham Evison and Keith Finnan all left Seymour & Castle in the dark as J Melton Painters brushed them aside with an 8-4 beating.
