Steve Plater at 2012 FIM World Endurance championship at Magny Cours in France
AFTER taking nearly a year out from racing while recovering from an arm injury Woodhall Spa rider Steve Plater returned to the track recently to contest the first round of the 2012 FIM World Endurance championship at Magny Cours in France, the Bol d’Or 24 hour event.
He was delighted with a podium finish in third place with the Monster Energy Yamaha Austria team. (YART)
“Conditions were far from ideal,” said Plater. “It was raining then dry and then wet again and overnight the temperature dropped so it was also very cold. But we battled on throughout the 24 hours and Igor took the final hour on the bike and rode a blinder to bring it home in third place.
“I am happy to be back on a bike again after all this time, I have been riding a track bike but this is the first race in nearly a year and I have come through it well. I have to thank my personal sponsors UK Waste Disposal from Newark as they are to continue their association with me this year.”
Steve takes a break from racing now as he prepares for the North West 200 races which take place over the week of May 13-19.
