Timothy Perks Dangerous Goods Training of Louth supports Richard Barnard at Manx National Rally
MAY 2012 is going to be another busy month for Cumbrian Richard Barnard and his RABrallyesport team which is receiving support through 2012 from Timothy Perks Dangerous Goods Training of Louth.
On Sunday May 6 the team’s Subaru Impreza will form part of a display at the Cumberland Lodge Livery Stables Open Day at Lillyhall near Workington in Cumbria.
Team Manager Andy Barnard will be on hand at the event to explain to visitors the ins and outs of the rally car and the teams activities.
Richard will be returning to the UK from his work abroad on the morning of the 9th May and straight into a test and shakedown session with the rally car that afternoon.
The Impreza will then be finally readied for the Manx National Rally by Malcolm Irving at his Cumbrian based Irving Motor Services.
Richard will travel to the Isle of Man overnight to start his reconnaissance, on Thursday morning, of the Manx stages with his new co-driver for this event, Frank Curtin.
Richard added: “I want to have the chance to try some different co-drivers during 2012 with a view to helping me decide who my regular team mate will be in 2013 when I plan to do the MSA British Asphalt Championship. It’s great rallying with my Dad but he may have other commitments for 2013 so I’ve got to plan ahead”.
The rally itself will start on the evening of Friday
May 11 and run through with some night special stages and then the daytime tests until the finish in Douglas on the Saturday afternoon. The team will be hoping not only for a finish but a good result in the car that has had several new developments on it since its last outing.
A class win will be the objective on this rally which will be Richards first at this level.
The following weekend will see Andy Barnard back in the co-drivers seat with Richard when the pair will travel over to Melbourne Airfield near York to compete on the John Overend Memorial Stages Rally run North Humberside Motor Club.
A top ten finish at least will be the target on this single venue rally but ideally a top 5 result would round off the months activities brilliantly.
