Sandilands Golf Club Coy Shield winners

ON Sunday March 27 32 members played in the Coy Shield a better ball stableford competition.

Winners with 46pts were Club Captain Dave Hardy and Vice Captain Jonathan Graves. James Doughty and Richard Naylor came second with 45pts.

Chris Willey and Mick Upton came third with 41pts.

James Doughty completed a good day with three 2’s, on the 2nd, 10th and 17th holes. Jonathan Graves got a 2 on the 13th hole and Mick Upton a 2 on the 17th hole.

The presentations were made by Club Captain David Hardy except the one to him and Jonathan which Immediate Past Captain Mick Neal made.

On Monday March 28 26 seniors played in a stableford competition.

John Conyers won with 41pts, Dennis Jeffcock came second with 39pts and Roy Clow third with 38pts.

Later the same day the Ladies played in the Ping four ball better ball stableford competition.

Winners were Anne Freeman and Kath James, Freda Smith and Shirley Christian came second and Margaret Hammond and Kath Forknall third.

On Wednesday March 30 Lewis Walker and Mike Bothamley sponsored a bogie competition for senior members at the club.

Division B was won by Mike Yarnold with +5, Peter Olsen came second with +2 and Derek Hewett third with +1.

Alan Edwards won Division A with a brilliant +7, John Needham came second with +5 and Keith Arkesden third with +4.

The sponsors provided food at the ‘halfway house’ which was served by the sponsors respective wives Betty and Jan. The ladies were presented with flowers afterwards in the clubhouse and the sponsors presented the prizes.
