ON Tuesday July 12 Sandilands Golf Club Seniors played an away match against Seacroft Seniors.
Sandilands won the match four and a half - three and a half. Winning pairings were Roy Clow and Tony Lester, Richard Parker and Dave Wright, Keith Arkesden and Mike Yarnold.
The following pairings halved their matches, Pete Yorston and Pete Naylor, Geoff Ashford and Mike Reynolds and Derek Hammond and Melvin Brown.
Over two Sundays July 10 and 17 the Doris and Dorothy Cup Competitions were held in which 30 members played. The Doris Cup was for the best medal score for 18 holes over the 2 rounds and the Dorothy was the best two round aggregate score.
Winner of the Doris Cup was Sean Duncan with 65, John Graves came second also carding 65 but beaten on back nine countback. Brassy came third with 66.
Winner of the Dorothy Cup with two rounds of 67 for a total of 134 was Immediate Past Captain Mick Neal, Club Vice Captain John Graves came second with rounds of 65 and 70 for a total of 135.
Junior member Liam Needham came third with rounds of 67 and 69 for a total of 136.
In the first round Ged Lee and Paul Weston got 2’s on the 2nd hole. Sean Duncan and Steve Bainbridge got 2’s on the 10th hole. In the second round no 2’s were achieved so a card draw was held.
On Tuesday July 19 Captain’s night featured the Mermaid Trophy competition, where players can only use two clubs and a putter.
Winner with 71 was Roy Clow. Melvin Brown came second with 72 and Keith Arkesden third also carding 72 but beaten on back nine countback.
No players achieved a two on the night so a card draw was held.
