WHILE Darren Clark was battling the elements in The Open, Eddie Burton was playing one of his best competitive rounds at Woodthorpe Hall Golf Club to win the prestigious Rover Cup with 45 points.
As Eddie said after his round: “It was one of those rare days where driving, chipping and putting all worked on the same day”.
Alice Sykes also had a good round to win the Ladies Cup with 36 points.
Jean Orridge won the ladies division with 35 points followed by Cynthia Taylor(34) and Carol Mirfin (33).
Division one was won with another outstanding round of 42 points by Jim Welborn with popular President Howard Castell (38) the runner up Andy Sykes was close behind with 37 points.
Captain John Chivers thwarted the captains curse to win Division two with another high scoring round of 40 points, Trevor Lyall came a close second with 39 points followed by Gary Gilberthorpe with 38.
