Adam Ant is the latest act to be announced for this year’s SO Festival on July 1, alongside a performance on June 30 from chart topping band Scouting For Girls.
The Embassy Theatre in Skegness will play host to the pop veteran, adding to the already impressive line up at the largest annual arts and cultural festival on the East Coast.
Extended from three days to a week long programme of events between June 23 and July 1, SO Festival 2012 is expected to be bigger than ever.
Leader of East Lindsey District Council, and Lincolnshire’s Olympic Champion, Cllr Doreen Stephenson, said: “We’re delighted to have Adam Ant and Scouting For Girls perform at this year’s SO Festival, and we hope that both acts will be a real draw for music lovers of all ages.”
For almost two years Adam and the Antsdominated the charts with their singles and subsequent albums, including the bands second album ‘Kings of the Wild Frontier’, that charted for over 66 consecutive weeks.
Complementing the eccentric star’s arrival at the SO Festival is Scouting For Girls, the chart topping trio from London that have enjoyed incredible success in recent years with their hits including ‘She’s So Lovely’ and ‘Heartbeat’.
With a repertoire full of infectious melodies, catchy tunes and toe-tapping beats, they are the perfect package of piano-based indie pop and will perform at the Embassy Theatre on Saturday 30 June.
Funded by a range of partners including East Lindsey District Council and Arts Council England, SO Festival 2012 takes place between June 23 and July 1 in Skegness and across the East Lindsey District.
As well as a visit from the Olympic Torch, the district will host large scale outdoor performances, music and opera, street theatre, comedy, dance and brand new productions.
