Following nine days of travelling acrobats, dancers and art installations touring East Lincolnshire, organisers of this year’s SO Festival are hailing the event a success.

Audience figures show that, in total, 85,000 people from the local area, as well as from places as far away as Australia, experienced the festival’s programme of dynamic street theatre, dance, music and art.

Launched in Horncastle, the festival was inspired by journey and transport and revived the centuries old tradition of travelling entertainment, curiosities and wonderment.

This year’s festival included activities and performances for all ages including a Travelling Show of Outrageous Novelty, Opera on the Beach, world-class projections and art installations, vibrant street theatre and dance acts, music from Lincolnshire’s top up-and-coming musicians and a stunning Saturday night spectacular.

Portfolio Holder for Culture, Leisure and Tourism at East Lindsey District Council, Councillor Adam Grist, said, “Once again, SO Festival performed above and beyond all expectations, and we’d like to thank everyone who helped make this year’s event the success it was – from volunteers and sponsors to artists and festival-goers.

“As in previous years, the festival attracted thousands to the region, boosting tourism, as well as business opportunities for local shops.”
