Mablethorpe’s annual summer lights switch on in July looks set to be ‘a day to remember’ after the line-up was revealed this week.
The event, planned for Saturday, July 27, will this year be headlined by a ‘high energy’ performance from contemporary dance group, Nutkhut at 9.45pm.
Last year a shake-up in the annual line-up saw the celebrity switch-on of the lights shelved in favour of a fireshow on the beach, drawing 7,500 people and going down as a roaring success.
This year, as well as a packed day of entertainment including street theatre, face painting and classic car displays, there will be an evening of performances from local musicians, including Trip the Roses and The War Birds.
The traditional fireworks will follow the dance performance by Nutkhut.
The event has been organised and funded by East Lindsey District Council in partnership with Mablethorpe Town Council, Mablethorpe Area Partnership and Mablethorpe Tourism Forum.
Portfolio holder for culture, leisure and tourism at East Lindsey District Council, said: “The Illuminations switch-on day is a traditional part of the tourism offer in Mablethorpe and this year’s illuminations will be a fantastic event with lots of activity throughout the day for everyone to enjoy - it is set to be a day to remember.
“We hope everyone will save the date and come to Mablethorpe to join in the celebrations with us.”
