LOCAL acts were the stars of the show at the weekend’s Bathing Beauties Festival, where huge crowds turned out to soak up the culture.

Live music, art, poetry and more were on offer as well as appreciation of the beach huts which span our coastline.

The festival, the longest linear coastal art festival in Europe, took place from Mablethorpe to Sandilands.

Happily, much of the weekend remained dry and pleasantly warm despite fears of rainy weather.

The festival brings a much-needed boost to the local economy after the summer months are over.

Town manager Karen Froggatt said: “This year’s Bathing Beauties Festival was a great success and attracted many new visitors to the coast, some of who will no doubt visit again.

“This is a unique festival which really shows off our wonderful coastline. There was a fantastic buzz along the promenade, with lots of entertainment and activity.

“A festival of this kind takes an inordinate amount of organisation and I would like to pass on my thanks to all those who volunteered to help make the weekend such a great success.”
