A VAST array of local talent will be showcased at this weekend’s Bathing Beauties Festival which takes place along our coastline.
Musicians, artists and poets from our region will wow crowds of up to 15,000.
The festival celebrates art, music, poetry, crafts, architecture and of course the picturesque beach huts. It is the largest linear coastal art festival in Europe.
It starts this Friday, September 16 lasting until Sunday evening. The weekend kicks off at 7pm in Sutton on Sea Pleasure Gardens.
Young Huttoft singer Axil Rose will be top of most people’s ‘things to see’ list during the weekend, she’ll be performing at 1pm on the main stage in Mablethorpe. Axil has just completed her debut single Left Field Feet, and is tipped for a bright future.
Another local band, blues singers The Dave Simpson Trio will be headlining the same stage at 9pm on the Saturday. The Louth-based outfit perform much of their own work but are no strangers to covering Jimi Henrix or Rory Gallagher.
Also performing will be Lincolnshire Poet Laureate Joel Stickley, who will be showcasing his locally inspired verses at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm this Saturday in his laureate beach hut.
East Lindsey District Council Leader Coun Doreen Stephenson, said: “East Lindsey as a district is becoming well known nationally for culture and the Festival of Bathing Beauties is an important event in our cultural programme.
“We hope Mablethorpe and the surrounding areas are very busy during the Festival weekend.”
