THE LOUTH and District CAMRA group were disappointed with their 15th annual beer festival this week and may be forced to cancel further festivals in the future.
The local group of the Campaign for Real Ale provides the town with this one special beer festival each year giving locals the chance to try real ale and local businesses the chance to support and sponsor them.
Unfortunately due to the economic climate the three day event showcasing 21 real ales and ciders and headed up by sponsor Batemans did not go as well as all hoped.
Chairman of Louth and District CAMRA Jerry Gale said: “Overall we were disappointed with the outcome of this year’s festival. Although on a lighter note we did sign up 15 new members.
“I would like to thank the Town and Country club for letting us hold the event there and to all of our sponsors who sponsored the ales.”
If the group do not get the support next year they may have to cancel future festivals. This will be decided at their next group meeting to be held on October 24.
