A singer from Louth has sealed the deal and won herself a recording contract out of an act start list of 100 that entered the competition.

Ellie Butler, 32, who was brought up and educated in Louth has been busy rallying support to sky rocket herself up the rankings in the ‘Brand New Artist 2015’ competition organised by Nottingham-based label, Negart Records.

Out of the 100 artists that were in the running for the grand prize, they were soon whittled down to 50 and then the final 25.

One big last push over the last two weeks managed to push Ellie up from fourth position to number one where she stayed and ended up winning the competition.

Thanks to the contest, Ellie has won a recording deal which includes a promotional music video, a tour, national radio coverage, plus her own CD single which will be distributed to record stores across the country.

When Leader reporter, Chloe West spoke to Ellie, she was so excited with the thought of things to come in what will be an amazing 2015 for this talented female solo artist.

Ellie said: “To put my feelings into words right now, I feel amazeballs!

“I am so happy and really excited to see what 2015 has in store for me.

“I would just like to say a big thank you to everyone who voted for me, I’m so grateful for all the support and I wouldn’t have won this competition without each and everyone of you.

“My family and friends have been amazing with their support, especially my mum and dad. My dad has actually been on Facebook everyday pushing my cause bless him.

“They are very proud and excited for me.”

Ellie was a late bloomer when it came to launching herself into singing. Not starting until she was 22, Ellie began singing in a band and followed that through for 10 years.

Before her singing career, Ellie spent her working life grooming horses and has done so since she left school.

But, she decided in the summer that now was the time to go for it and become a solo artist.

“I have always known from a young age that I could sing in tune, but never really thought much of it,” Ellie added.

“I have spent many years working with horses which I love, but I really wanted to see what I could achieve with my music and after being in a band for 10 years, I recently decided to go solo.

“I thought now was the right time to go for it, it’s now or never.”

After being voted as the best singer in the county at the ‘Voice of Lincolnshire’ contest back in September, Ellie found out about the ‘New Artist 2015’ competition and thought she had nothing to lose by entering.

Ellie will start work on her single in March and a six-month tour will follow, which concludes at a live music festival in Nottingham where she will be one of the headline acts.

This festival will also fall into the same week as her winners single launch.

She will also be featured on two compilation albums which will be released in 2015 and includes all original music from a number of fresh, talented artists from across the country.

Ellie also comments on the music genre she hopes to move into, the current artists out there who are her inspiration and what her Christmas plans are.

“In terms of my music, my voice is a mix between an RnB and Soul sound. I love all different types of music, both old school and current.

“Currently in the industry, I am loving local girl Ella Henderson, her voice is amazing and I really like the music coming from Sia as well.

“Sia is a real inspiration to me at the moment and I love her work. I’m just hoping when my single comes out, that everyone who voted for me to win this competition will head out to buy a copy.

“For Christmas, I am going to be spending my time in Louth having a good-old fashioned family Christmas at my brothers and I’ll get to see my nephews which will be lovely, it’s a great time of year for children.”
