A butcher’s in Boston’s Market Place was attracting customers with an unusual ploy 35 years ago.

John Swain’s had added the word ‘SEX’ to its window in white wash paint.

Underneath the notice was a smaller message which said that some of the meats were reduced by 10 per cent.
